THE COMMITTEE
The core of the society, the Savoy committee volunteer from the community and are democratically elected by the membership. Each one brings something unique to the team and as a unit they work together to ensure the society runs smoothly. Never losing sight of the Savoy membership they take the lead on planning new events, vetting productions, and engaging with the wider community, to ensure Savoy retains its position at the heart of performing arts on campus. With that we present our 2020-2021 Savoy Opera Committee!
PRESIDENT
HADLEY WEHNER
---
Ahoy Savoy! I'm Hadley. I am a third-year Classics and Drama student and I am so excited to be your president for the 2020-21 year!
As president I oversee the committee and the society as a whole. I run the committee meetings and assist the rest of the committee when they need help. I also liaise with other presidents and fill out a lot of paperwork. I fell in love with Savoy as a first year and now to be able to fill the role of President means so much to me. I want to continue to encourage and foster the family feel that Savoy is known for, despite current challenges, and provide an environment that is welcoming and engaging for everyone.
I would have to say that my favourite show is 'The Mikado' as it was the first G&S I ever did! I had such a great experience with that show and it was such a great introduction to comic-opera.

SECRETARY

REUBEN HAVELOCK
---
Hello everyone! I’m Reuben, a third-year Drama and Music student, and I am thrilled to be your Secretary this year.
My job involves being in charge of the society’s admin, such as taking committee meeting minutes, booking rooms and producing the newsletter, as well as lending a helping hand to our wonderful president whenever she needs it. As secretary, I want to work with the committee to ensure the society continues to run smoothly and maintains a friendly, accessible environment for all of our members.
Of the few I properly know, my favourite G&S would definitely be ‘Patience’. I adore the wacky story, the writing is hilarious and the music has a wonderful energy and drive that I immediately fell in love with.
TREASURER

PHOEBE BRUCE
---
Hi! I’m Phoebe, a first year Computer Science student, and I am your Treasurer for this year!
It is my job to ensure that the society has all the money it needs for our amazing events and shows. Despite the odd circumstances of this year, I hope to keep Savoy running financially so that we can all enjoy it as previous members have, as well as allowing us all to have as much fun as possible at any events!
My favourite G&S show would have to be ‘Princess Ida’ as it was my first G&S show to be a part of and, therefore, will always have a special place in my heart. Plus it is just pure insanity and who doesn’t love that?!
EDUCATION & OUTREACH OFFICER

JESSICA FINLAY
---
Hi, my name is Jessica Finlay, I am a third year Drama and Music student and this year I am looking forward to being Savoy’s Education and Outreach Officer and working with this wonderful committee.
My role as Education and Outreach Officer includes providing opportunities to society members and welcoming new members into the Savoy family. I am looking forward to helping to promote Savoy’s community spirit!
My favourite G&S would have to be ‘The Gondoliers’ as the music from this show introduced me to Gilbert and Sullivan and I have been a fan ever since.
CHARITIES & VOLUNTEERING OFFICER

CHLOE CHATBURN
---
Hi! I'm Chloe and I'm a third year Music and Drama student, I'm very much looking forward to being your Charities and Volunteering Officer this year!
My role as charities and volunteering officer is to help Savoy to choose a charity to work with this year, to organise fundraisers and to facilitate volunteering opportunities for society members. It is also part of my role to organise the Remembrance Day concert in November. I hope to bring more volunteering opportunities to the society this year, working with Royal Holloway Volunteering and also to organise different socially distanced fundraisers for the charity that Savoy chooses this year.
My favourite G&S show has to be 'Pirates of Penzance', it's definitely a classic, it features brilliant music and a fantastic plot!
PUBLICITY & MEDIA OFFICER

T O M A V A N N
---
Ahoy Savoy! My name’s Tom. I'm a third year English and Creative Writing student and I’m so excited to be Savoy’s Publicity and Media Officer for the next year.
It’s my job to oversee our presence on social media, keep our branding consistent and make sure you know when and where all our shows, socials and concerts are happening. Savoy has such a special place in my heart as the most wonderful, wholesome and quirky little family on campus and I can’t wait to see it grow this year!
My favourite bit of G&S has to be 'Patience', because every person in the show (including the chorus) has at least one patter song!
SOCIAL SECRETARY

BERNICE SAUNDERS
---
Hi guys! My name is Bernice, I’m a third year English and Creative Writing student and I’m super excited to be your Social Secretary this year!
My job is to organise events and socials for everyone in the society, new and old, to enjoy! Despite the circumstances, I still want to have as many safe events as we can that are inclusive to all members. We already have some exciting things planned!
My favourite G&S would have to be 'Princess Ida'. It was the first G&S show I properly listened to and performed and I have so many amazing memories to do with the show!
