Set on the coast of England, Pirate of Penzance tell the tale of an honourable young man called Frederic and his quest for change, love and doing the right thing. Spending a large portion of his youth as a pirate apprentice, he wishes to escape his life with the Pirate King and his band of noble troublemakers, who pine after the daughters of the Major General, and start a life fighting the wrongs in the world.

Outside of the pirate ship, he finds love in Mabel, and lies in his old nursemaid, Ruth. Meanwhile, the honourable Major General must lie to the pirates to protect both his daughter and his company for when he is old. After some unfortunate lies, a terrible misunderstanding and the bad luck of a birthday falling on a leap year, Frederic must decide whether his honour is worth more than his love and his freedom.
